I see trees of green…

Today Ishi completed her 4 months on this planet. These are usually the coldest and flu-infested months around this part of the world. We kept Ishi away from all the icy and germy winds, all wrapped up, in heated rooms during this period.

And then comes February, weather starts to get better; chill starts giving way to soothing nip; warmth of gold of Sun feels just right; blooms and colors around reminds you of the spring round the corner.

In our last visit to doc, we were given a go ahead to take Ishi out into the elements. And we were eager to do so – show her the world, the greens and reds and blues. Let her feel the natural wind on her cheeks and the sound of the chaos. A break from recycled AC air and sweet but sterile melodies of lullabies from the iPod.

What better day for this initiation then than her 4th monthly birthday – 19th Feb. It was a lazy Saturday for me. The day was bright and late evening would have gotten cold. We were to figure out a time which was just right for Ishi’s first walk out. ICC Cricket world cup had started today and India was playing the first innings like there was no tomorrow. With fours and sixes galore, 2 tons on the board… it wouldn’t be easy to peel away from TV. Well, I didn’t have to. By the time the innings ended, it was a nice evening – still bright, not too warm or cold. And the prep began !!

Out comes the Mothercare deep red baby carrier. Ishi is draped in a jacket over her jumpsuit. Nero is all excited and jumpy seeing both Mommy and Daddy putting their shoes on. And we were all set !!

Walk

We all walked to a nearby park. Mommy with Nero’s leash and Daddy with Ishi’s harness Smile

Ishi did look intrigued. She was keenly looking at the trees and the sky. Nero had great fun doing his mad dashes in the park.

Wasn’t this we both dreamt of when we were moving to Delhi? A baby, a dog and the bonding over walk !

What a wonderful world indeed.

To poop or not to poop...

...that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The farts and rumbles of outrageous digestion,
Or to take medicines against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?

To ache in sleep; No more;
and by a poop to say we end
The belly-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd.

To poop and sleep;
To sleep in relief: perchance to release: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep what relief may come
When we have shuffled off this smelly coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes necessity of so long life.

Its been 8 days honey. When will you poop?

A-choo!

Poor Ishi caught her first cold last week. I was down with viral and then sinusitis for almost 2 weeks. She survived the first 10 or so days and then caught cough/cold as well. We kept her propped up (in fact we still are) as much as possible (bouncie, cushions under her gym and folding sheets under her cot-bed). She had a runny nose and bad coughing fits where her eyes would water, and she would go red near her eyes, nose and cheeks. It was so hard to watch. Luckily, she herself didn't seem too upset with her cold, feeding and playing normally; and didn't get fever. She is almost fully over her cold now. Her first cold and our first initiation to your child being sick.

A-choo A-choo ... Bless you baby!!

Leaving on a jet plane

The hardest part of being a new dad – you don’t want to travel !!

Well, and the job demands you do.. and somehow the demand is directly proportional to the amount you hate to leave your angel. As if leaving every morning for the entire day wasn’t enough already.

Since Ishi’s arrival I have had a couple of long travels. One was for entire week and this one is again for almost a week.

I am sitting in the airport lounge, haven’t even boarded the flight out and missing my baby !! I reckon this is going to continue getting harder. Ishi has started to give those heart melting smiles. Soon she will be laughing and then talking and then….. Sigh! Eye rolling smile
